M DAY

So what if I'm posting about Mother's Day a week+ after the fact. Since it was on a Sunday I played hooky from our church and decided to visit my mom in Mesquite. She has to work and so right after Estefan was dropped off we headed up there. Tommy had left to work that morning at 2:00 a.m. So I didn't get to see him but for 15 min. later on the day.

I suprised my mom with the kids! I used to tell Estefan all the time that he was my first love. I can say that with all honesty. Then I realized just a couple days before that I could no longer say this. My mom is.

If you have the terrible misfortune to have a teenage (single) mother in your house one day-well God bless you. My mom was the best "husband" I could've asked for. She and I grew so close during this time. It wasn't really till after Estefan was born that she became my backbone-literally. I had a rough recovery-to say the least- and my mom slept with me and Estefan for weeks! Yes in the same bed, she too woke up soaked inmilk along with Estefan and I. She handed my newborn over, undressed me, started my showers and helped me in, washed my hair, changed all of Estefan's diapers the first week, propped the baby in my arms while he ate because I was so weak, and she held my hand to guide me down our stairs.

Where would I have been without her? What kind of mother would I have turned out to be?

Sure she drives me crazy cause she forgets things all the time, calls me every of my siblings name before she says mine, and she lets people walk all over her. We finished our time together having lunch. Pazole our favorite:) I love her. She loves me and mine. One day saying thank you isn't enough.

She was nice and gave me a new bag with a parfume set inside! She knows I love Fancy by Jessica Simpson. I've never owned but I can tell when someone is wearing it. I just love it! My sister's and I chipped in and gave her a 1hr. spa treatment along with a waxing certificate to take care of herself. Oly paid for a pedicure! Thanks little sis. It's still crazy that these people would give ME gifts. My dad on the other hand sent a TEXT saying happy mothers day. Then the kids wanted to see Iron Man 2. I had just seen it 2 days before with my mom and brother. Must admitt that I loved it! I love comic book movies. I don't think any respectable girl would or should but I do. So I went and watched it with the kids. again. Estell went to the bathroom 4 times during the movie-Estefan 2. That's ALOT of times I had to get up!

Straight home after that and straight to my Grandma. Dropped of her gift, and to say Feliz Dia De Las Madres but she wasn't home. Someone took her to lunch I guess.

A quick stop at home to say hello to tommy since he had just gotten home-kids styed in the car-then off to my MIL. I love my mother in law sooooooo much. Words can't describe. She has folded my underwear (even if doesn't warrent any folding at all) and never judged me by it. She tells me she loves me EVERYTIME she sees me. She calls me one of her girls. Swear I was meant to be part of her-she planned on having a 4th girl when she was pregnant with Tommy and they named they picked out? Amanda. It was destiny. There isn't ONE secret I have kept from her. Even with my loud mouth she has never made me feel weird. She has even spoken up for me:) Watching the selfless act she showed me during her sisters ilness and eventual passing-was AMAZING. She is amazing. This year I even thought about calling her MOM which I have never been able to do. I thought that would be a better gift than the ones the kids and I picked out but I.....couldn't. It feels weird. I must admit it feels even weirder talking to family and saying "your mom."

We swam in the pool, ate yummy food, talked, painted nails, and pictionary. It was a great day-even if I couldn't celebrate it with Tommy. At leat I had both my kids which may be a given to you all but it isn't to me. t of course was the highlight of my week:)

I came home to find a pretty vase of wild desert roses and a poem written by my husband. The perfect ending for me.

Gotta love the older mature sister who sits up front so she doesn't have to deal with the kids in the back

With these times

I haven't even written about mother's day yet! I will but in the mean time this has been on my mind-GETTING A PASSPORT!

With Arizona's new proposed state law I feel that I should safe gaurd myself. I tend to travel alone with the kids. Tommy doesn't like to travel and I do. It makes me feel so much better knowing I am avoiding any possible confrontation. This makes me very comfortable:) Telling Tommy this made him annoyed. He has strong feelings for this law-I don't. We don't have TV for this very reason. I consider myself uneducated in many matters-by choice. Unfortunatly it's not a good time to be me. Maybe by the time my kids read this-the country will be back to Asains, Jewish, or other previous targeted ethnic group. I must admitt that I don't have a certain memory that sticks out where I can say I was discriminated. My country has been good to me. I wouldn't be anywhere else. I love my country for this. Sure maybe somethings do. Like the time I went to the grocery store on a bad hair day and being asked if I speak ENGLISH! Can't a mexican have a bad hair day without someone usumming I just swam the river? But I don't get offened easily. That didn't offend me. It just makes me wonder about people sometimes. So the reason for the passport-It makes me feel secure knowing that if I get stopped in New Mexico, Texas, or Utah for that matter that I won't ever be harassed. My family has traveled those lower states 4 times this year alone. My extended family. No I'm not afraid of being questioned but actually harassed. Especially if I don't have Tommy by my side.I'm afraid of someone's ego begetting their better judgment and try to make a fool of me in front of my kids. I don't EVER want to give the world an opportunity to seperate me from my kids. That is my worst nightmare! It's not about being political, it's not about being mexican, it's about being a women. Sometimes I think men like to intimidate- whan they see as a fragile, small female. No thanks.

Also the rates for the Passport are shooting up soon! And I mean soon! Have to get it while it's good. Right now it's $100, still a little steep so I can't imagine what it's going to be like when the price goes up. Also this summer I plan to go on a cruise with my SIL. It will be my first and I hope I really do go on it with her!

Good wind

When life gives you lemons-you know the rest. Well when God gives you wind-FLY A KITE! Tommy was so annoyed at this kite flying bussiness. No patients! But he's not a quiter either so he got the kite in the air for his boy. I loved it. We went to Linda's and I bounced and clapped like a little girl. I can have very childish moments. often. This included begging, clapping, repeating myself, and twirling like a ballerina. I love love the wind and this day was all the better by puting a kite in the sky. I also like to make Tommy pout a little, but most of all I like to see Estefan do something new and exciting.

What happenes when a goat runs past you

four days after incident

Estella was standing by the front door when Billy blew past her. She fell off the concrete steps right onto her nogin! No sliding involved. Just a sickening little crunch that I hear all the way from the couch, inside. Dad was mad and now BIlly has a rope tied to his hoof and neck. No fast movent is involved. This is Billy's 3rd hit and run involving children.

Mi casa Su casa

Oh about a month or so ago we got a goat. Well actually Tommy bought a goat and didn't tel me. He tried to sneek it on me when I was leaving to write up a story. "I have something to tell you and you might not like it." Then he admitted he bought a goat for 40 buck and he would be picking it up that weekend. Well I let it slide and told him that I to had a confession. I accepted not one but TWO kittens when they become of age! Yup I wanted two kittens, ones for back-up. I like to have kittens that turn into cats, that turn into mice eaters! But for some reason the street always takes our pets:( and we end up having to shovel them up with a shovel and buring them in our cemetery:( I hate that. Funny story. Estefan sat on he ground one day after Tommy had burried a cat. Yes he said a small prayer and started to throw dirt on it. Well Stefan stayed where he was and Tommy statrted walking away. I asked Estefan what he was waiting for and he looked up to the sky and pointed. I said I didn't understand. He whispered, "I'm ....you know?.....waiting for the cat to rise and go to heaven!" Precious. Tommy explained that he was posotive that his soul left the moment he passed not when they actually buried him.
As for this goat. The kids namd him Billy-he is SUPER FRIENDLY! We let him in once and now we cant keep him out. He LOVES to look at himself in the mirror. Tommy took one and actually hung it in his pen?! He thinks he's a kid (technically he still is) and plays with the dog, the kids, and is so dang cute! Now we can't keep him from running past the kids at lightening speed, into the house. Do we plan to eat him-NO. We want another boy and girl. Both babies to raise off the bottle, for the kids to experiance, and then if and when the girl gets pregnant....maybe. Probably not though. But I do like goat meat:)
